Montana Sen. Jon Tester introduced Wednesday morning that he’ll search reelection in 2024, offering a lift to Democrats’ hopes of retaining the Senate.
“It’s official. I’m operating for reelection,” Tester tweeted. “Montanans want a fighter that may maintain our authorities accountable and demand Washington get up for veterans and decrease prices for households. I’ll at all times battle to defend our Montana values. Let’s get to work.”
Tester is one among a number of Democratic senators in pink and purple states who’re prone to face aggressive challenges this cycle. Together with West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin, Tester was one of many high incumbents being urged by occasion management to hunt reelection.
Reacting to the announcement, the Nationwide Republican Senatorial Committee swiftly moved to tie Tester to President Joe Biden within the deep-red state, calling him the president’s “favourite senator.”
