Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen on Thursday stated he is designating previous Gov. Pete Ricketts to fill the Senate seat left uninhabited by Republican Ben Sasse’s resignation.
Ricketts, a Republican politician who finished his 2nd term as guv previously this month, will hold the seat till an unique election in 2024. The seat will then be on Nebraska’s tally once again in 2026 for a complete six-year term.
Pillen and Ricketts appeared together at a joint press conference at the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln, where Pillen explained the choice of Ricketts as “really, really apparent.”.
