Khater took a white can of bear spray from Tanios’s knapsack, approached the line of officers and, as rioters began pulling on the bike rack barrier separating them and the authorities, Khater sprayed several officers– consisting of Sicknick– who needed to pull back from the line.
After recuperating from the bear spray attack, Sicknick continued to assist secure the Capitol that day, according to court files, staying on task up until late into the night.
” Prior to roughly 10:00 p.m., Officer Sicknick started slurring his speech while talking with fellow officers,” court files state. “He dropped in reverse and passed out, and lifesaver were summoned for help. He was transferred to the George Washington University Health center where he stayed on life assistance for almost 24 hr and was noticable dead at 8:51 p.m. the following day.”.

Sicknick’s partner, Sandra Garza, asked the judge to enforce the optimal sentence for both males.
” I recognize it will not restore Brian, nor provide him peace in his last minutes in the world, however it will provide some sense of justice in my universe,” Garza composed to the judge.
” The only thing that exceeds my anger is my unhappiness,” Sicknick’s bro, Kenneth, composed in his declaration to the judge. “Unhappiness that the only time I can interact with Brian is to speak into the nothingness and hope that he is listening.”.
Kenneth continued, “Brian was never ever one for the spotlight. He chose to tackle his organization, not accentuating himself. My household and I silently smile at each other when we go to an occasion honoring and keeping in mind Brian and the weather condition turns bad. We understand it’s Brian informing us that it is okay, he is okay, please do not make a huge offer about me, look after the others that require it. That’s what he would have done.”.
