California Gov. Gavin Newsom conjured up scriptural mentors while slamming Republican management and the Trump administration for the federal government shutdown’s influence on food help, arguing that Bible commands look after the starving which Washington is stopping working that ethical test.

Speaking Tuesday in Sacramento together with state Chief law officer Rob Bonta and Health and Human Being Solutions Secretary Kim Johnson, Newsom mentioned mentors from Matthew, Isaiah, Luke and Sayings as proof that feeding the bad is “core and main to what it is to line up to God’s will.”
