An individual in Georgia struck it huge, winning a $980 million Mega Millions prize Friday, the eighth-largest reward in the lotto’s history.
The winning numbers were white balls 1, 8, 11, 12 and 57, together with gold ball 7. The winning ticket was purchased a Publix in Newnan, Georgia, 39 miles southwest of Atlanta where the illustration is generally held at the WSB-TV studios.
In addition to standing No. 8 amongst Mega Millions prizes, it’s the biggest reward in Georgia lotto history, more than double the $478.2 million Powerball winner there in October 2024.

The winning gamer has 180 days to declare the reward and to pick in between an instant swelling amount of $452.2 million or a smaller sized amount followed by 29 yearly payments, each 5% bigger than the last.
The Mega Millions prize is now reset to a base of $50 million ahead of Tuesday’s illustration.
The lotto’s $5 tickets are offered in the country’s capital, the U.S. Virgin Islands and every state other than Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.
