3 Baltic states disconnect from the Soviet-era grid to merge with the European energy system

The circulation of electrical power in between the Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and Russia was formally severed Saturday early morning after authorities turned off the Soviet-era grid’s transmission lines and prepared to sign up with the rest of Europe on Sunday.
