Meet Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, the world’s richest woman, who’s worth $87 billion

Her relationship with her mom pertained to a tipping point when Bettencourt Meyers started a decade-long bad blood over her inheritance.

In the claim, Bettencourt Meyers declared that professional photographer François-Marie Banier utilized his relationship with Liliane Bettencourt to control the senior heiress into offering him some 1.3 billion euros ($ 1.4 billion) of money, art, and life insurance coverage policies, The New york city Times reported.

Bettencourt, who was detected with dementia, challenged her child’s assertion, stated she easily shared her possessions with Banier.

In a 2008 letter to Banier, Bettencourt explained their relationship to him composing: “With you, I resemble a mom, a fan, all the sensations travel through me. It makes me shiver,” according to Vanity Fair.

Bettencourt Meyers informed a French news publication in 2009 that Mr. Banier’s “goal is clear: break away my mom from our household to make money from her. I will not let it take place.”

The case went to trial in 2015. Bainer was founded guilty of “abus de faiblesse,” or “abuse of weak point.”

He was sentenced to 2 and half years in jail and informed to pay Bettencourt 158 million euros million in damages.

The prison sentence and payment were later on reversed in an appeal.
